POLICIES
Young and Vulnerable Adults Policy
The Club’s policy is to give a friendly welcome to all members and visitors, to communicate with them and give help and advice when required.
The Committee has responsibility for all issues regarding the protection of children and vulnerable adults. The Club also realises that this issue is currently a sensitive one and seeks to take a sensible view to balance the Club’s aims with the safety of all its members.
To achieve this, the Club has a rule that all young people and vulnerable adults must always be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult whilst participating in sailing activities.
Members are encouraged to assist young people but advised not to approach them unless the supervising adult is present.
Members or visitors to the Club must not take photographs or videos of young persons or vulnerable adults without the express permission of the supervising adult.
Volunteer and Employee disciplinary and Grievance Procedure.
The Club does not employ any personnel or volunteers from outside the Club. Any issues regarding disciplinary or grievances within the Club would be dealt with under the Incident / Complaints Managing Procedure.
There have been no instances of this being required during the lifetime of the Club.
Anti- Bullying Policy
The Club has no employees or volunteers from outside the Club and there is no hierarchical arrangement within the Club. Instances of bullying are therefore unlikely. Should there be any accusations then these would be dealt with under the Club’s Acceptable Behaviour Policy.
Acceptable Behaviour Policy
All members are expected to behave, whilst at the Club, in a responsible manner. They must be conversant with the Club constitution, risk assessments and rules and must always obey them.
They must not take actions which put themselves or others in danger and be aware of the Young and Vulnerable Adults Policy.
Recruitment / Employment
The Club does not employ any personnel or volunteers from outside the Club.
Training / Competence
The Club does not employ any personnel or volunteers from outside the Club.
Incident / Complaint Handling
The Club will take accusations of misconduct, abuse, or neglect seriously. Any accusations must be reported in writing to the Secretary in accordance with the Club Constitution. The Commodore will then call a special meeting of the Officers of the Club at which evidence will be taken. The evidence will be recorded in the minutes of the meeting by the Secretary. These minutes will not be published but will be kept secure by the Secretary. The business conducted by at the meeting will be strictly confidential and disclosure will be considered a breach of the Acceptable Behaviour Policy.
The Commodore will ensure that the appropriate authorities have been notified including the Insurers.
The accusations will be fully investigated, unless a police investigation is required, and if found to be proven appropriate action will be taken which could result in expulsion from the Club.
